Following a disappointing home showing against University of Texas – El Paso this past Friday, the University of Central Florida's volleyball team earned its first conference win of the season and first victory in seven games Sunday afternoon 3-1 on the road at Tulane University.
Playing an otherwise even match with the Green Wave – UCF and Tulane were even in overall number of kills (52) and assists (48), while the Knights held a 54-53 advantage in terms of digs – the Black and Gold was ultimately able to outscore their opponent on the power of both their service and receiving game, as well as a combined 28 kills from redshirt junior Angelica Crump and sophomore Ashley Gialenios.
Plenty of distraction accompanied UCF on the first road trip of its Conference USA schedule, with head coach Todd Dagenais unable to travel with the team after being hospitalized following Friday's loss to the Miners.
Dagenais, notes UCF Athletics, was released from the hospital on Sunday and is expected to rejoin his team sometime this week.Read more... Join the Conversation...

The University of Central Florida men's basketball program has added a new member to its extended family, with Adam Williams coming on board with the Knights as Assistant Director of Basketball Operations.
A former player and graduate assistant for UCF head coach Donnie Jones while Jones was still at Marshall University, Williams also brings with him two years experience as assistant coach at West Virginia Tech.
Explained Williams to UCF Athletics Tuesday morning, "I am extremely excited to be at UCF. Having the opportunity to work here with Coach Jones and the assistant coaches who I know and trust is a great felling. Everyone on the staff has a role and I am glad that they trust me to get the job done."
Jones commented in kind about Williams, saying, "Adam is a bright, up-and-coming young man in the coaching profession. We are excited to have him as part of our basketball family. I was fortunate to be able to coach him and I am looking forward to working with Adam at UCF."

The University of Central Florida men's soccer team needed a late goal from Deshorn Brown – his first of the year – to earn a 2-2 double-overtime draw on the road in Fort Myers, Florida against Florida Gulf Coast University Saturday night.
The Knights actually led the game for the majority of the first half, this after Jeff Michaud scored his first career goal in the 17th minute of Saturday's match up on an assist from Ben Hunt.
FGCU answered back after the intermission, however, putting up a pair of goals, including one from the Eagles' Daniel Stanese that gave the home team a 2-1 advantage in the game's 53rd minute.
Each team played the last 53 minutes of the match with only 10 men as the Black and Gold's Romario Williams and the Eagles' Felipe DeSousa each earned two yellow cards.
Meanwhile, Sebastian Evers played all 110 minutes at goal keeper for the Knights and finished with a pair of saves.
UCF moved to 2-2-2 on the season with the tie, while the Eagles went to 3-1-1.Read more... Join the Conversation...
